We asked AHL fans across different platforms including reddit and combined the ratings in a new fan driven survey of AHL enthusiasts from across all U.S. states and Canadian provinces, these larger than life characters play a crucial role in making game days unforgettable. The average respondent, aged 37, shared candid thoughts on which mascots stood out most in 2025 and three big mascot stars really stood out.

The 2025 AHL Mascot Review compiled over 1,400 fan submissions. Fans rated their hometown heroes and traveling favorites, revealing which mascots truly left their mark on the ice and in the stands.

🥇 Sully: Cleveland Monsters
Sully cleaned up in this year’s rankings, winning over 12.60% of the votes. Fans praised his sharp comedic timing, dance routines, and big hearted presence at community events. For many in Ohio, Sully isn’t just a mascot he’s part of the family. He has over 1.9+ followers on Instagram which is a worth a checking out.

Sully, the lively seagull mascot of the Cleveland Monster did however get the odd comment that his Ice Skating needs to improve, although this did not really deter the overall result!

🥈 Tux: Wilkes‑Barre/Scranton Penguins
Sliding into second place with 9.75% of total reviews, Tux has solidified his place as one of the most beloved mascots in the AHL. Fans celebrated his “cool under pressure” attitude, quick wit, and knack for energizing the arena and loves a high fiver or two.

From ice‑side antics to off‑ice charity appearances, Tux stands out as both a performer and ambassador for the Penguins’ brand. Many fans who participated in the survey described him as the “definition of crowd chemistry,” noting how kids and adults alike gravitate toward his fun, family‑friendly style and penguin hugs as mooted by WBS Penguins blog.

🥉 Sonar: Hartford Wolf Pack
Sonar’s wolfish charm earned 9.41% of the votes, landing him a well‑deserved third-place finish. Known for firing up Hartford’s crowd with enthusiastic howls and playful pranks, Sonar continues to represent the Wolf Pack’s team spirit and hustle.

🔥 Honorable Mention: Griff: Grand Rapids Griffins
Griff’s warm and goofy personality resonated with fans across both American and Canadian markets. His consistent engagement in youth programs and charity events earned him solid respect, with over 6% of voters giving him top marks despite fierce competition. Also lets not forget, he’s got Talons!
